Mid-season Report
Posted 07.11.10
MECHANICSBURG, PA - As Lucas Wolfe races through the unofficial halfway point of the 2010 World of Outlaws season, the 23-year-old has found himself knocking loudly on the door, looking to pick-up his first career A-feature win. The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania has competed in 34 WoO events leading up to the race at Cedar Lake and has managed twelve top-5s including runner-up finishes at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, OK on April 10th and Eldora Speedway on May 7th. Lucas also led the first 30 laps at Huset’s Speedway on July 1st before ultimately finishing 3rd behind Sammy Swindell and Steve Kinser, arguably the best sprint car drivers of all time. Lucas does have one win in 2010, a non-sanctioned race at Williams Grove Speedway on March 26th, during a break from the tour schedule.
Much of Lucas’s success has stemmed from his strong time trial efforts in 2010. Thirteen times he has earned at least one bonus point for time trialing in the top-5, including four fast-time awards. Lucas set track records in time trials at Houston Raceway Park on March 13th and Junction Motor Speedway on June 25th, making him the only driver to establish two one-lap track records so far in 2010. These strong qualifying runs, paired with quality heat race efforts have allowed the pilot of the Jim and Laura Allebach owned sprinter to run the dash 20 times in 34 races, including 10 of the last 11 events leading up to Cedar Lake.
Not all of Lucas’s good runs have been from the front though. Currently the rising star’s four KSE Hard Charger Awards leaves him tied with Steve Kinser for the most among all WoO drivers in 2010. Twelve top-5s and 20 top-10s have Lucas sitting 7th place in points. His 4406 points are 256 behind point-leader Joey Saldana and only 100 markers behind Jason Sides who currently sits in 5th.
In addition to the early season win at Williams Grove, Lucas notched two top-10s in Austraila in January and two more in All-Star competition at Volusia Speedway, right before the WoO opener at the same track. The first All-Star race was in Lon Carnahan’s City Wide Insulation R19 where he came to the checkers 6th. He then tallied a 4th place result in his return to the familiar orange paint scheme that so many 5w fans became accustomed to during Lucas’s career in Pennsylvania.
Lucas and the team are gearing up for the Kings Royal, Silver Cup and Summer Nationals which are all coming up in the next two weeks. Lucas drives the Allebach Racing, Rick’s Auto Body, Christopher Hall Landscaping number 5w with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. Wolfe Wins Williams Grove Thriller
Posted 03.28.10
MECHANICSBURG, PA - Mechanicsburg native Lucas Wolfe returned home pick up his 9th career Williams Grove victory while the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series are in the midst of a two-week break, before returning to action on April 10th at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, OK. Wolfe joined a field of 33 sprint cars at the historic half-mile speedway situated in the heart of Pennsylvania sprint car country. In the third heat race Lucas would start outside front row and move to the lead after passing Alan Krimes in turns three and four on the first lap. Lucas held on easily, to win his first heat race at the track since May 15, 2008.
While the temps at Williams Grove were chilly on Friday night, things started to heat up around lap four of the 25 lap main event when sixth starting Brian Montieth passed Fred Rahmer to move to the 4th position. On the next circuit, 2008 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, Lucas Wolfe moved into the runner-up spot behind pole-sitter Daryn Pittman after passing Curt Michael. Montieth would then also get by Michael on lap six and begin reeling in the leaders. The first lead change of the night would come on lap nine when third-starting Wolfe dove to the bottom of turn three and slid in front of Pittman through turn four.
At this point, the leaders were beginning to close on lapped traffic and Montieth began closing on Pittman, attempting to make a move around the top in turns one and two on lap 10, but Pittman would hold on to position. Then, on the following tour of the speedway a car about to go a lap down spun in turn two and did a complete 360 right in front of the leaders. Wolfe would lose the lead he built since taking the top spot, as well as all of his momentum as the top 4 were all within a few car-lengths down into turn 3 with 8-time track champion, Fred Rahmer getting in the mix.
Pittman, in the Keen Motorsports #17, went low and moved in front of Wolfe, but the 23 year-old would cross back over in turn four to regain the lead down the front straight. The top 3 would again scramble through one and two, this time with Montieth making a move on Pittman to move into 2nd down the back chute on lap 12 and under Wolfe going into 3. Again, the pilot of the 5w was able to regain the lead down the straightaway and heading into turn one on the low side, however both leaders drifted high coming off of two, opening the door for Pittman, the native Oklahoman, to move past Montieth and race side-by-side with Wolfe down the backstretch.
With the leaders all battling each other, Rahmer again closed in to make it a four-car battle, with Montieth regaining 2nd and ‘Fast Freddy’ moving past Pittman for 3rd on lap 14. With the leader navigating lapped-traffic, Rahmer then took 2nd from Montieth on lap 15. The racing for 2nd and 3rd allowed the 5w to pull out to a 15 car-length lead. Lap 19 saw 1993 World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year, Greg Hodnett move into the top five, passing 2nd-starting Curt Michael. On lap 20, Montieth took his Premier Auto Works #21 back to the 2nd position but was now more than 20 car-lengths back from Wolfe.
The last thing Wolfe wanted to see was a caution, but with three laps remaining, that’s exactly what happened when Pat Cannon came to a stop in turn 4, marking an end to his night. On the single-file restart, Wolfe went high in turn one, with Montieth in the middle and Rahmer trying low. However, this start was waved off since the lapped car of Adam Wilt was supposed to be in front of Rahmer. With the cars ordered correctly, the second restart saw Wolfe get a better jump, pulling out to a 10 car-lengths lead. He then led the final 3 lap unchallenged, winning by .51 seconds at the line.
Regarding the frantic action up front Wolfe stated, “It was a really good race. It was definitely a lot of fun to do [and] it was real tight when we got into lap traffic there and a couple of guys up front were all going pretty good.” He then continued, “It was hard to make a decision on which way to go with some of the lapped cars and then I had a couple of guys spin in front of me there, so that certainly was quite interesting and that allowed Brian [Montieth] to get up beside me.”
On keeping Montieth at bay, Wolfe responded, “I knew once I saw him, I thought he’d be pretty tough, but I was able to keep good enough position on him that he wasn’t able to get in front of me and I was able to stay in front.”
“It was a great night for us and I’m happy to be back here at Williams Grove. Any time you’re able to race here it’s great so certainly, to win here is fantastic.” Wolfe commented about returning to his home track. “We have a lot of big races back here throughout the rest of the year so we need as much time on this track as we can get.”
The win moved Wolfe even with Paul Pitzer, Jeff Shepard, Steve Siegel, Mark Smith and Bobby Weaver on the all-time Williams Grove career wins list. It win also broke a winless drought going back to the season finale of 2007, just prior to joining the World of Outlaws tour full-time.
Lucas and the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will visit Williams Grove for six dates in 2010 beginning with a double-header on May 13th and 14th. They will also pay a visit to the Mechanicsburg oval on July 23rd and 24 and wrap-up with the Morgan Hughes National Open weekend on October 1st and 2nd.

Tasmania vs. USA
Posted 01.13.10
HOBART, TASMANIA - After spending two months at home preparing for the 2010 Season Lucas left the country to compete in the Chickenfeed Tasmania vs. USA in Hobart, Tasmania. Craig Dollanksy, Paul McMahan, and Lucas Wolfe make up the American team with Tasmanian drivers duties being shared by Hobart teenager Shaun Dobson and Launceston drivers Jamie Bricknell, Kurt Luttrell and Jason Dawkins.
A total of six, five lap dashes made up the TAS vs. USA Challenge. Each dash consists of a total of six drivers, three American drivers and three Tasmanian drivers. Drivers are scored on a 6-1 scoring basis with the winner scoring six points second scoring fifth and so on. After each dash drivers would return to the infield where they were able to make adjustments for the next dash. The following dash was inverted by the finish of the previous dash.
In the first race Lucas was able to finish fourth with Tasmanian Driver Shaun Dobson picking up the win. The Americans were able to take an early lead in the battle 12-9 with McMahan finishing second and Dollanksy third. The following dash Dollanksy picked up the win with Lucas finishing fourth and McMahan fifth. Lucas was able to pick up a win in the next three dashes but was unable to start for the sixth and final race due to a fuel leak.
At the end of the dashes, the American team was able to come away with 70 points over Tasmania’s 55. This will give the American team a 15 point lead going into the second test at the Bendigo Bank Arena at Latrobe Saturday, January 16th. The main event consisted of a 30 lap main event but did not earn points for finishing. The American’s started at the rear of the field with a Red Flag on lap 13 when Paul McMahan rolled his car, but only sustained minor damage. When the checkered flags flew for former Tasmanian champion, "Tornado" Tim Hutchins, of Sassafras, Lucas was able to come away with a sixth place finish behind Dollanksy who finished fifth.

2009 World of Outlaws Season Review: Lucas Wolfe
Posted 12.10.09
CONCORD, NC - Hard work and determination best characterized the 2009 season for Lucas Wolfe, as he and his father Randy, who served as his crew chief, took to the road with the World of Outlaws for the second consecutive season. On most days, it was just the father and son duo driving up and down the road and doing all the maintenance on the car.
Wolfe wrapped up his sophomore season with the World of Outlaws 10th in the series championship standings aboard the Allebach Racing Maxim on the strength of 18 Top-10 Finishes with five of those being Top-Five performances. After missing a significant amount of time during his rookie season due to injury, he was able to compete in every race this past season gaining more priceless experience on the road.
“You always want to do better,” shared Wolfe. “I think we were disappointed with a few of things that we thought we would be able to take advantage of better this year. It was good to be able to get the whole season in this year which was a positive. Hopefully the third season next year when we come back will be even better yet.”
Wolfe visited 13 tracks for the first time in 2009, and also returned for the second, third and in some cases fourth time to a number of facilities. His best finish of the season was a fourth on the second night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in California. He also picked up Top-Five finishes at the legendary Manzanita Speedway in Arizona early in the season, as well as at Delaware International Speedway, Virginia Motor Speedway, Eagle Raceway in Nebraska and Charter Raceway Park in Wisconsin
“For the most part we did run better on the tracks that we went to for the first time in ’08 and went back to in ’09,” noted the sophomore driver. “I think we improved on most of them. The tracks we knew the best seemed to be the ones we ran the worst on, which was kind of disappointing. It’s definitely a tough deal and you never know how it’s going to go. It takes a lot to run out here and it’s disappointing to see the season end, but February comes around fast and I’m looking forward to that.”
After cutting his teeth on the always tough Central Pennsylvania sprint car circuit, where the famed Williams Grove Speedway was his home track, Wolfe is used to competing against stout competition each night and that is exactly what he faces on the road with the World of Outlaws no matter what track the series visits.
“It’s always tough,” said the native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. “The best of the best are out here running with the Outlaws. That’s what we are striving to become. Certainly all of the areas that you go to have tremendously strong local fields and not just in Pennsylvania but in California and Knoxville and Ohio. It certainly makes you better when you can go in and run with the guys that are best in those regions. That’s one of the positives of being out here.”
After finishing 18th in points in 2008, Wolfe improved that eight spot this past season and also earned 10 more Top-10 finishes and two more Top-Fives. He was quickest in time trials twice in 2009 and raced his way into the Crane Cams Dash 21 times to earn Top-10 starting spots in feature events.
“We really tried to get faster at all the tracks this year, since we visited them for the first time last year,” Wolfe explained. “The hardest thing is to be good every night. We had some nights where we were good and some nights where we were awful and those are the nights you have to improve on. You have to be good everywhere you go, because these guys don’t give you anything, you have to get what you can.”
For his hard work and dedication, Randy Wolfe was named the 2009 World of Outlaws Crew Chief of the Year at the series Awards Banquet in Concord, North Carolina following the World Finals, joining a pretty prestigious list of past recipients of the honor. Competing against teams that had two and three full-time crew members, Randy and Lucas persevered and were always one of the first teams to arrive at the track and last to leave.
“The way things were, it was the best situation and to be out here, it was what we needed to do,” explained the second generation driver of the team consisting of him and his father. “Hopefully in the future we can have a full-time guy with us. I think it was the right decision this year to be out here and hopefully it’s something we can improve on next year as well.”
Wolfe has come close to picking up his first career World of Outlaws A-Feature win a couple of times over the last two seasons and that is his number one goal heading into the off-season and the 2010 campaign, to get that first one.
“I don’t think it will take anything different than what we have been doing in the past,” he said when asked what it will take to get that first win. “It has to be on the right night. A lot of nights we have been competitive all night and just missed it at one point in the night and a couple of nights we had a car good enough to win, we just started too deep in the field. We just need to get our ducks in a row a little bit better. Those are all things that come with time and as we get better at each place we go, those things will come.”
Wolfe is counting the days until the 2010 season kicks off in Florida, as he is anxious to climb back in the seat. To stay sharp in the winter, he will take part in a couple of indoor races and recently competed in the famed Western World in Arizona along with a couple of other fellow World of Outlaws drivers.
“It’s too much time for me,” he deadpanned of the off-season. “I hate the off time. As far as a driver goes, it’s way too much time. Hopefully we’ll be able to fill in some time and do some other racing and stay sharp so that we can hit the ground running in February when we get to Volusia.”
The 2010 World of Outlaws season kicks off on February 5-7 with the 39th annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH at Volusia Speedway Park.

Coming Home: Lucas Wolfe Ready to Race Twice at Williams Grove this Week
Posted 05.13.09
Mechanicsburg, PA—May 13, 2009—It’s been quite a while since Lucas Wolfe has been back home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, let alone paid a visit to his home track, the famed Williams Grove Speedway. Competing full-time with the World of Outlaws in his sophomore season has kept him on the road for the better part of the last two months, as the series has raced 17 times from coast-to-coast so far in 2009.
Wolfe will get a couple of chances to compete at his home track twice this week, as the World of Outlaws visit Williams Grove Speedway on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15 for two full nights of racing. He’ll also get to catch up with a number of people that only get to see him race a handful of times each season.
“I’m definitely looking forward to being around home for the next couple of weeks and being able to have everyone come out,” he noted. “I’m excited to be able to go back to a track that we know pretty well and have run well at on occasions. Hopefully we’ll be able to have a strong weekend and a good time there.”
Wolfe only raced once at Williams Grove last season with the World of Outlaws, picking up a fifth-place finish in the spring race. He missed the Summer Nationals as he was recovering from a back injury sustained in early June. He did race once last August at the track as a tune-up before returning to World of Outlaws action and picked up a Top-10 at the half-mile, where he has eight career wins.
“It was disappointing last season to only get back there to race once with the Outlaws,” he shared. “It was disappointing that we didn’t get to see all the people we are used to seeing and racing with and for the car owners Jim and Laura Allebach, who don’t get to see their car very often.”
After the National Open was rained out last fall, this week will be the first time since last July that the World of Outlaws have competed at Williams Grove. Wolfe looks to use all of his experience at the track which dates back to 2003 to his advantage. He has nearly 70 career Top-10 finishes there.
“We haven’t been there all that much recently and maybe everyone else will be rusty and we might have an advantage,” said the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year. “Hopefully that’s the case. It was a good result for us last year and hopefully we can beat the weather this year and get a good result.”
Wolfe, who is in his second full year on the road with the World of Outlaws aboard the Allebach Racing Maxim, has returned to a number of tracks this year that he visited for the first time last season, as he continues to learn the intricacies of countless tracks from coast to coast. He picked up a season-best fifth-place finish at Manzanita Speedway earlier this season in just his second start at the track.
“Experience is definitely important,” said the 22-year old. “You have to run every race, because it’s hard to get time back when you miss them. You have to be able to do the right things at the right times and that is what we continue to get better at. Most of the tracks we have gone to this year, we have run better than last year our first time there. In the next few weeks, we’ll go to some race tracks that we have gone to numerous times so hopefully that will show in our results.”
Wolfe again has his father Randy turning the wrenches for him this season on the road and for a majority of the year so far, it has been just the father and son traveling up and down the road, doing all of the works on the race car. They will have a few extra helping hands during the East Coast swing.
“There is a tremendous amount of work,” explained the second generation driver. “It gets a little tight with just the two of us if there is a long drive in between. For the most part we have been ok and we have had a few people help out here and there, which has been a savior to us. The next few weeks we’ll have all the help from home and that will help give us a break from just having the two of us. Once we go back out in June it will be just the two of us again, and that’s just the way it is. We seem to be all right with it.”
Wolfe matched his season-best finish of fifth on Tuesday night at Delaware International Speedway in his first career visit to the sprawling half-mile. He is currently just outside of the Top-10 in the series championship standings and will compete at a number of tracks he has traditionally run well at over the next few weeks as the World of Outlaws East Coast swing continues.
“We have to start running better,” he deadpanned, when asked about what will make it a good spring and summer. “We have made improvements on the majority of nights that we have raced. I don’t really have a target, we just have to be running better and get some momentum up. We just want to be more competitive by the time we get to the summer.”

2009 World of Outlaws Preview: Lucas Wolfe
Posted 02.05.09
CONCORD, NC, February 5, 2009 -Lucas Wolfe had a strong start and finish to the 2008 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season en route to claiming the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, unfortunately he missed two months of action in the middle of the season after sustaining a back injury in early June.
After having an entire off-season to rest his back and gear up for 2009, the 22-year old from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania is ready to take to the road again with the World of Outlaws beginning on February 6 at Volusia Speedway Park in the 38th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH.
“I am definitely looking forward to getting started and going again,” said Wolfe. “We are rapidly preparing everything. It’s a last minute thrash.”
Click Here to listen to Lucas Wolfe and a number of other World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers as they gear up for 2009.
Despite missing two months of action, Wolfe was able to compete at a majority of the tracks that the World of Outlaws will visit again in 2009. At the time of his injury, the series was in the midst of a Midwest swing, with a handful of tracks during that stretch that will be new to him in 2009. Wolfe was the youngest full-time World of Outlaws driver last season beginning the campaign at 21 years of age, but does not look at his age as a hindrance. He gains priceless experience every time he took to the track last year, racing against the best sprint car drivers in the world night in and night out.
“I think it helps tremendously,” he noted of having a year of experience. “We missed the opportunity to go to a few tracks being out during the summer months. For the most part, we should be better when we go back to the tracks that we have been to. We’ll go back to those with a better idea of what we need to do and hopefully we can capitalize on that experience and build on that. Hopefully we can beat the weather and injury this season.”
Wolfe will have a number of opportunities this season to race on the East Coast, at tracks he cut his teeth racing at, including his home track, the famed Williams Grove Speedway, where the series will make three separate visits in 2009. The series also will compete twice at Lernerville Speedway in Pennsylvania, as well as the series inaugural event at Delaware International Speedway. Additional East Coast races include a return to Virginia Motor Speedway for the second consecutive season and traditional stops in New York at Lebanon Valley Speedway, Orange County Fair Speedway and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, three tracks that Wolfe always runs strong at.
“There are a lot of race tracks that I am familiar with and you know what you are getting into before you get there,” stated the second-year driver. “It’s always good to race around home where you race with people that you have raced against in the past. It’s always fun to get back around home a good change of pace while on the road.”
Wolfe came close to winning a couple of times during his rookie season, including in the series debut at North Central Speedway in Minnesota, where he led early in the race and finished second to Kraig Kinser. He also paced the field early in the race at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon in his first visit to the ¼-mile after he won his first career Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position. He wrapped the season up with nine Top-10 finishes, with three of those being Top-Fives.
“I don’t think it will take anything different at this point,” he explained of what it takes to win with the World of Outlaws. “We consistently put ourselves in a position to win races in the second half of last season. You have to take advantage when you are in that position. We were in position to do that a numbers of times and unfortunately never capitalized on that, but we were able to gain a lot of experience running against the best guys in the country. Being in consideration for wins at this point in my career is a good thing and hopefully we’ll be able to step that up a notch this and get some wins as well.”
Wolfe will have his father Randy again turning the wrenches as crew chief in 2009. The father/son combination has worked together for a number of years and look to build upon the solid foundation they established last season on the road with the World of Outlaws.
“For the most part we seem to work pretty well together,” he said. “We get along well enough that I think we can keep it successful and hopefully we’ll continue to build our relationship this year. We still have a lot of learning to do about the race tracks and how to read them correctly and watch what they are going to do and make the right decision from there. That’s part of the learning curve and that is what makes running the World of Outlaws such a challenge.”
Wolfe has one main goal for 2009 and that is to visit Victory Lane. Last season was the first time in four years that he did not win a race. Having a year on the road with the World of Outlaws under his belt helped him continue to hone his skills behind the wheel of a sprint car.
“I think winning races is what we need to do right now,” shared Wolfe. “To be able to run all the races and be there like we were at the end of last year is important. We have tremendous equipment and have a great opportunity here and definitely don’t want to waste it. We’re definitely focused on winning races.”

Lucas Wolfe Returns to Action with World of Outlaws at Red River Valley Speedway
Posted 08.11.08
By Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
WEST FARGO, ND, August 11, 2008 - Lucas Wolfe will return to action with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Tuesday, August 12 in the finale of the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota. The race also serves as the second stop of the Gerdau Ameristeel Northern Tour, which encompasses the four events in the state of North Dakota this season for the World of Outlaws.
The rookie driver from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania sustained an impression fracture to the T-4 vertebrae in his back at Tri-City Speedway in Illinois on June 8 that required extensive time to recover. Prior to the injury, he made 17 starts with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and was just one point out of the 13th spot in the championship standings.
“I’m extremely excited to be back and able to race again,” said Wolfe. “It was a long couple of months, but thankfully everything is healed up. I’m ready to go again, and hopefully we can finish the year off strong.”
Wolfe competed twice this past weekend at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in his hometown, along with Lincoln Speedway also in Pennsylvania, to get the feel for the car again. He finished ninth on Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, where the World of Outlaws will return on September 26-27 for the Morgan Hughes National Open. On Saturday night, he turned in a very solid sixth-place run at Lincoln Speedway, which is a 3/8-mile similar to three of the four tracks that the World of Outlaws will compete on this week.
“It’s certainly going to take more time on top of this to get back to where I was with the Outlaws,” he noted. “The best place to be to get back in the groove is to be racing as much as you can and that is one of the benefits of racing with the Outlaws. I was able to get a few races in and hopefully that jump starts me to get back into the swing of things, and hopefully we’ll pick everything up quick.”
Prior to the injury, Wolfe had four Top-10 finishes aboard the Allebach Racing Maxim during his first full season on the road with the World of Outlaws, including a season-best fifth-place finish at Williams Grove Speedway on May 15. He also scored two Top-10 runs at the legendary Eldora Speedway in Ohio, along with an eighth-place performance in his first visit to Virginia Motor Speedway back in May. He has 16 Top-10 finishes in 34 overall events this season, with a number of those coming in his home state of Pennsylvania, where he competed early in the season in between rainouts for the World of Outlaws.
“It was most difficult because you see everyone else racing, though it’s probably something that most people encounter at one time or another in their careers,” explained the 21-year old driver of the time spent out of the seat. “Hopefully I have mine out of the way now and will be free and clear from here on out. You can only hope that instances like that are few and far between.”
Wolfe has already visited five tracks for the first time in his career this season, and will continue to add to that list as the Northern Tour wraps up this week in North Dakota and the Gold Rush Tour kicks into high gear on the West Coast and in Canada. He has been fast at a number of tracks in his debut at them as he continues to gain valuable experience against the best sprint car drivers in the world night in and night out.
“This whole year has been a learning experience going to all of these places for the first time,” shared the second generation driver. “I’m also very fortunate that I get to go to those places and get that experience at the young age that I am. Hopefully we’ll be able to be good at all of them, but obviously getting laps and as much experience as I can is the main focus. I am definitely looking forward to going to more places for the first time.”
Wolfe will start this week out with his first career visit to the high-banked Red River Valley Speedway and follow that up with three consecutive debut events on high-banked 3/8-mile facilities. He has run very strong on half-mile tracks this season, with two of his strongest runs coming at Eldora Speedway, which is also a very high-banked track.
“The guys that have been out here, there is a reason why they have been out here so long,” he commented. “They are used to going to places for the first time and they pick it up pretty quick. It may be a little bit different than a place that people have been at many more times than me. It probably doesn’t make as much of a difference as I need it to, but we’ll just see how it goes. Hopefully I can pick those places up quicker than the rest.”
The event at Red River Valley Speedway, which serves as the second race of the Gerdau Ameristeel Northern Tour will be the first career start for Wolfe in the state of North Dakota. Wolfe will then travel to Gillette Thunder Speedway in Wyoming for a race on Thursday night, before returning to North Dakota for an event at Dacotah Speedway on Saturday and Nodak Speedway on Sunday. The rookie driver looks to build upon his early season success as he continues to chase his first career World of Outlaws win.
“If we can make through the night and just get back in the swing of things and getting to race again with the Outlaws, along with just being there will make it a good night,” Wolfe said. “Hopefully we can pick up where we left off before I got hurt. We were starting to get into a pretty good rhythm and starting to run where I think we should be running. Hopefully we’ll be able to do that even though we have had some time off.”

Circled on the Calendar: Lucas Wolfe Anxiously Awaiting Return to Williams Grove Speedway
Posted 05.14.08
By Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
MECHANICSBURG, PA, May 14, 2008 - When Lucas Wolfe first announced he was going to compete full-time with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in 2008, he had a couple of dates marked on his calendar, with the first of those being the series annual spring stop at Williams Grove Speedway in his home town.
The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania grew up in the shadows of the legendary half-mile and always dreamed of the day that he would wheel a car around the track, as well as the day he would be able to do it full-time with the World of Outlaws. He will have plenty of opportunities to do that this season, as the series will make three separate visits to the track for a total of six events in 2008.
Wolfe will make his first Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series starts at the track as a full-time member of the series on Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16. The event on Thursday will be 25 laps in length and pay $8,000 to-win, while Friday’s race will be 30 laps and pay $12,000 to the victor. On top of this, the cameras from SPEED will be in on hand each night to tape all of the action for broadcast on May 31 and June 8.
“It will be good to head over there,” noted the rookie driver. “Hopefully we’ll be able to get all of the races in. I am definitely looking forward to it. It will be good to go home. We’ve been out here for about a month now and it’s time to go back home and get everything together and reorganize some stuff. It will be nice to get back to the track that I know the best. Hopefully we’ll have some good results.”
While he has been anxiously looking ahead to the events at his home track, he is approaching them like any other on the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series schedule. With nearly 80 races from coast-to-coast dotting the calendar this year, Wolfe and his team focus on each individual race as they come, and continually seek to improve as a team, as they continue to learns the ropes of life on the road.
“I don’t think it really adds any pressure,” said the driver of the Allebach Racing Maxim of his return to Williams Grove. “Actually I am hoping that I’ll be a little more comfortable. When you were a local guy and the Outlaws came in, you have pressure, because it is the biggest race. Now I am fortunate to be at all of the big races. It’s definitely one that I want to do well at. There will be an expectation to do well, and we’ll just go up there hope to have a good result.”
In his career at Williams Grove Speedway, Wolfe has eight wins and nearly 70 Top-10 Finishes. Last season he had three Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws at his home track, including a third-place showing on the second night of the Summer Nationals. His first triumph at the track in a 410-sprint car came in 2004, over Lance Dewease and Don Kreitz Jr., two of the winningest drivers in the history of the storied track.
Wolfe competed three times at the legendary half-mile back in March during a rain-induced break in the World of Outlaws schedule, and scored a runner-up finish in one of those events. Competing on a weekly basis against the always tough Pennsylvania Posse for the last number of years helped Wolfe honed his skills as a driver and gained the confidence to compete on a national level. He has the utmost respect for the drivers in the Central Pennsylvania area.
“There are a lot of guys there that have a ton of experience up there,” explained the reigning Selinsgrove Speedway track champion. “There is nobody better to learn from than those guys. All the fellow Outlaws guys that I am racing with now are some of the best guys and are all in the same class at the top guys back home. If you can run with the top guys in that area, you can win races anywhere. I think they are all in the same group.”
Wolfe, who leads the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award standings, has found Mother Nature to be his biggest challenge thus far during his freshman season with the World of Outlaws. With over half of the races this season postponed by rain, it has taken him a little big longer to get used to life on the road and the rigors of completing the always demanding schedule the series maintains.
“It’s been difficult, especially after the longer breaks,” he said. “When you get back in the car it feels a little strange. It takes you a little time to get comfortable in the car again. It’s been hard to improve your car. We have been off a little bit and have been trying to improve. It’s been tough to build toward something consistently because you race once and then are off for a few weeks. That’s probably been the most difficult part. Hopefully that will all get straightened out and we will get some good racing in here in the near future.”
During a couple of breaks in the World of Outlaws schedule, Wolfe was able to compete at a couple of tracks that the series will visit later this season. First, he made a stop at Huset’s Speedway in South Dakota on May 4 and finished a very strong third in his first visit to the high-banked 3/8-mile which is a very challenging track to driver’s who have never raced there before.
He also was in action last weekend at 34 Raceway in Iowa, where the World of Outlaws will make their debut on July 30 and finished fifth against a strong field saw World of Outlaws drivers sweep the Top-Five positions, with a number of fellow series drivers competing in that event also.
“Number one, we wanted to race so we were happy to get two nights in,” shared Wolfe. “The fact that we’ll go back to both of those places was a big determining factor there. That is valuable time that we got at those places and hopefully we’ll be even better when we return to them.”
Wolfe currently is 15th in the World of Outlaws championship standings with a Top-10 finish at Eldora Speedway. He has five finishes of 15th or better. He will have three opportunities to race this weekend in a four-day period as the series schedule begins to pick up steam.
“We have been fairly decent,” he noted. “We aren’t where we want to be yet. I think we are continuing to improve and over time we will continue to get better. Hopefully as the races pick up we’ll get better and better and get to where we want to be.”
On Thursday, May 15 at Williams Grove Speedway, Reserved tickets will be $30, with Adult General Admission tickets $28. Tickets for students will be $15, with children 12-under admitted free of charge. On Thursday, there will an autograph session at 5:30 p.m. behind the main grandstand, featuring: Wolfe, along with two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz and Daryn Pittman.
On Friday, May 16 at Williams Grove Speedway Reserved tickets will be $32, with Adult General Admission tickets $30. Tickets for students will be $15, with children 12-under admitted free of charge. On Friday, there will also be an autograph session at 5:30 p.m. behind the main grandstand featuring: Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana and Tony Bruce Jr.

By Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
CONCORD, NC, March 9, 2008 - Lucas Wolfe returned to Williams Grove Speedway on Sunday afternoon and earned a runner-up finish at his home track in his first start of the year at the storied half-mile.
Wolfe, a contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award this season with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series won a heat race and lined up third for the 25-lap contest, with a very strong field of drivers in attendance.
He challenged Fred Rahmer, the winningest driver in Williams Grove Speedway history for the lead toward the middle of the race on a restart. Wolfe briefly took the lead exiting the second turn with a Rahmer inching back ahead after a drag race down the back straightaway heading into the third turn.
Wolfe, who won three times last season at Williams Grove Speedway, is currently 15th in points with the World of Outlaws.
The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will visit Williams Grove Speedway on three separate occasions in 2008, beginning with a two-day event on May 15 and 16. 2008 Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Preview: Lucas Wolfe
Posted 02.08.08
By Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
CONCORD, NC, February 8, 2008 - Since the first time he sat in a sprint car, Lucas Wolfe has been preparing himself to compete full-time with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania will have that opportunity this season as he will be a contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award.
Wolfe will drive for Allebach Racing, the team for which he has competed since he began racing Micro Sprints in 2001. The car will carry their familiar 5W and his father Randy Wolfe will be the crew chief on the Maxim cars with Don Ott power.
“Everything is starting to get settled in and we are excited for the season,” said Wolfe, who has earned two Top-10 finishes with the All Star Circuit of Champions over the last week. “We’ve been working hard to make sure we have everything ready for our first year on the road.”
Wolfe will get a taste of life on the road right off the bat in the first month of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season, as the tour will head to the West Coast for a trio of events after the season opening Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park and a stop at Pike County Speedway in Mississippi. Four consecutive weekends of racing are set with seven races in that span.
“I think one of the biggest challenges we will have is the logistics involved in running the series,” noted the native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. “You’ll be away from your home base for as much as six weeks at a time and maybe even more. The biggest thing will be that we have to adjust to planning ahead and preparing a little bit differently.”
Though it will be the team’s first full season on the road, they have been racing together for a number of years, and that is something Wolfe believes will help lessen the learning curve they will face.
“Something I am very happy about is that we have kept basically everything in tact with the team,” said the reigning Pennsylvania Speedweek champion. “It’s tough going out there for your first year and it would be even tougher if everyone on the team was new. Hopefully the chemistry we already have will help lessen the learning curve.”
Wolfe will visit over 50 tracks for the first time this season with the series. He will make his first trip to California to compete and also will visit Canada a couple of times with the series. While he will be racing against a number of drivers that have been racing sprint car longer than he has been alive, he is not intimidated by that.
“It’s hard to overcome experience,” said Wolfe. “There will be times when you run a good race and make one mistake and that can be the difference in costing you a number of positions. All the guys have been through that and it’s something you have to contend with. I don’t know how intimidating it is, because we race with them so much as it is. It’s not like I haven’t raced with them before. I guess it would be pretty intimidating if I had never had the opportunity to race with them.”
Wolfe ran a very aggressive schedule in 2007, competing nearly 100 times in both 410 and 360 sprint cars. Hew was victorious 10 times, including at Eldora Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway, where the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will compete a number of times this season.
Wolfe began racing at the age of five and amassed 90 wins and two championships in quarter midgets, before moving up to Micro Sprints in 2001. In his first season in a Micro Sprint at Linda’s Speedway in Pennsylvania, he earned six wins en route to the Rookie of the Year title. The following season he won the track championship at Trail-way Speedway, also in Pennsylvania. In 2003, he began competing in a 410-sprint car at the famed Williams Grove Speedway and the surrounding tracks in Central Pennsylvania.
“The numbers are very important, because the more you race, the more you get into a rhythm,” he shared. “That gives you more opportunities to have good nights. It’s a huge benefit to be able to go out and run a big schedule like the Outlaws do. I’m still trying to learn and get better and I am excited to run a lot of races.”
Wolfe will have six opportunities to race in front of his home crowd in 2008, as the World of Outlaws make three separate stops at Williams Grove Speedway. The first of those visits will be on May 15, for two full nights of racing. The series will also contest the Williams Grove Summer Nationals in July and the National Open in September at the half-mile.
“It will be a little strange at the beginning of the year not getting to race there, and that will take a little adjusting,” said the rookie driver when asked about his home track. “It will definitely be exciting to come back and race at the place where I have done a lot of my racing in the last couple of years. It will be good to see a lot of the people that I have competed with in a lot of my races.”
Wolfe earned six Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws last season, and in his career has 13 Top-10 finishes with the series. He finished third at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York in 2007 as well as on the second night of the Williams Grove Summer Nationals, last July.
In 2007, he set fast time twice in World of Outlaws events, including during the inaugural Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway, as well as at Williams Grove. He raced his way into the Crane Cams Dash 10 times to earn Top-10 starting spots in A-Feature events last season. His best career finish with the World of Outlaws came in 2006, when he was second at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York.
“It will be tough the first time around,” he said of visiting new tracks. “You have to watch as much as can and walk around the tracks. There are also a lot of guys that are good to talk to. I’ve formed a lot of good relationships over the last few years with people that are good with advice. It’s amazing what asking a couple of questions here and there can do to help.”
With over 80 races and ten of thousands of miles of travel awaiting him and his team, Wolfe is excited for the season and is ready to extend his sprint car racing education on a nightly basis with the best in the business. Being a rookie driver, Wolfe is focused on one race at a time and his biggest goal is to continue to gain experience and learn all that he can.
“We would definitely like to win some races, but that’s everyone’s goal going in,” Wolfe said. “I think we have good enough equipment to be in contention. We would like to be successful and at the end of the year to be in a better position than where we were going in, as far as the team and competition level.”

Lucas Wolfe to Compete Full Time With World of Outlaws in 2008
Posted 11.20.07
By Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
CONCORD, NC, 11/16/07 - Growing up around Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, home of the famed Williams Grove Speedway, there was only one thing that Lucas Wolfe wanted to be, and that was a sprint car driver. He dreamed of one day competing at his home track, as well as racing with the World of Outlaws.
After five seasons competing against the always tough competition in Central Pennsylvania, Wolfe recently announced that he will join the World of Outlaws in 2008, as a contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award.
Wolfe was a true outlaw in 2007, competing nearly 100 times at various tracks on the East Coast, as well as a couple of visits to the Midwest and the South. The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania won 10 times in 2007, including three races at Williams Grove, where the World of Outlaws competed seven times this season. He also won in a 360-sprint car at Eldora Speedway in Ohio and competed in the Knoxville Nationals at the storied Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
He will continue to drive for the Allebach Racing Team in 2008, the team for which he has competed since he began racing Micro Sprints in 2001. The team will utilize a Maxim Chassis with Don Ott engines under the hood. Randy Wolfe, who is Lucas’s father, will be the crew chief for the team. Also joining the team for the 2008 season will be Rick Kaylor as well as Jesse and Lorraine Keen. Kaylor and the Keens will help with transportation, as well as provide engines, frames and marketing support.
“I’m very excited,” said Wolfe. “This is something that I have always wanted to do, ever since we have been running a sprint car. I have always been working toward it I’m happy that an opportunity has come together for us to go out there and give it a shot.”
As a rookie in 2008, Wolfe will compete against the likes of Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz and Danny Lasoski each and every night, along with over 20 more of the best sprint car drivers in the world. Having competed for the last five seasons on the always tough Central Pennsylvania sprint car circuit, the 21-year old is ready for the challenge.
“I wouldn’t say that it’s very intimidating because of how much we race as it is,” he noted. “I’m definitely excited about it, because the only way that you can continue to improve is to continue to race against the best. If I get to race the best every night that is only going to help.”
In 2003, he began competing in a 410-sprint car at Williams Grove Speedway and the surrounding tracks in Central Pennsylvania.
Having competed a total of 98 times over the course of the 2007 season, in both 410 and 360-sprint cars, Wolfe is prepared for the 90-plus races that are currently on the 2008 World of Outlaws schedule, that will take him across the country a couple of different times.
“The more races that you run, the more opportunities that you have to improve,” explained Wolfe. “I am looking forward to running the most amount of races that I can.”
Wolfe earned six Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws this season, and in his career has 13 Top-10 finishes with the series. He finished third at Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York as well as on the second night of the Williams Grove Summer Nationals, back in July.
In 2007, he set fast time twice in World of Outlaws events, including in the inaugural Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway, as well as at Williams Grove. He raced his way into the Crane Cams Dash 10 times to earn Top-10 starting spots in A-Feature events this season. His best career finish with the World of Outlaws came in 2006, when he was second at Lebanon Valley.
“It will be challenging to go to a lot of tracks that I have never been to before,” he said. “You have to keep your momentum going. If you have a good night, you have to build on that, and you also can’t let the bad nights beat you down. You also can’t beat yourself up over bad nights. You have to keep your head above water and learn all that you can.”
Wolfe will have seven opportunities to race in front of his home crowd in 2008, as the World of Outlaws make three separate stops at Williams Grove Speedway. The first of those visits will be on May 15, for two full nights of racing. The series will also contest the Williams Grove Summer Nationals in July and the famed Williams Grove National Open in September.
“You always look forward to going home,” Wolfe said. “I’m sure it will be a special moment, because that is where I have raced at so much.”
The reigning Pennsylvania Speedweek champion is excited at the team that the Jim and Laura Allebach have assembled, with his father Randy as the crew chief.
“It’s an essential part of doing this deal that we have been together for a number of years,” he said. “We have been going pretty well together as a team this year and the last couple of years. That is a big part that will make it better. We are basically the same team, we are just traveling. I think that should ease the learning curve a little bit.”
With the 2008 season less than three months away, Wolfe is counting the days until he heads to Florida to begin his rookie season with the World of Outlaws. With another strong field of cars expected to contest the entire schedule, Wolfe has set some realistic goals for himself and his team.
“It’s hard to put numbers on things,” stated Wolfe. “I think it will be most important to be successful. By successful, I mean that we are able to improve and finish the year at least ahead of where we started the year. Hopefully we’ll have some strong runs and we sure would like to win some races as well. We have the equipment to do that, but there are a lot of other bridges to cross before you can do that. I think we are in a position where we could win some races.”
The 30th Anniversary season for the World of Outlaws begins on February 8, 2008 with the 37th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.

Posted 10.10.07
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 9/22/07 - A second-place run in his qualifying event is the only thing that kept Lucas Wolfe from a perfect night in the 19th Annual Hank Gentzler Memorial Manufacturers Appreciation Race at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.
The second-generation racer from Mechanicsburg set fast time in time trials, picked pill #0 for the inversion, started on the pole, and claimed the $4,000 top prize in the 25-lap feature for 410 sprinters.
Counting the $250 fast time award from Wings Unlimited, $75 for a second-place finish in his heat, the $4,000 for winning, and a $2,200-prize package given to each of the 24 feature starters by Hank’s Performance Products of York, Wolfe’s take on the night was in excess of $6,500.
After an inversion of five for each of the heats, the only thing that kept Wolfe from claiming the $500 Hank’s Perfect Performance Award was a second-place finish to Doug Esh in his qualifying run.
And for a while, it didn’t look like he’d even win the feature.
Wolfe led lap one from the pole, but then outside front row starter Cory Haas, the 2007 Lincoln "358" sprint champ, went to the wall to drive around the Allebach #5W through turns three and four of lap two to take the point. Haas led the next 15 laps before Wolfe reclaimed the lead in lapped traffic exiting turn four of lap 17.
But closing on the leaders was sixth-starting and 2007 track champ Fred Rahmer, who followed Wolfe by Haas and was scored second by the end of lap 18. Rahmer then drove under Wolfe for the race lead on lap 19. But Wolfe turned up the wick a lap later, and drove back around the ten-time track champ on lap 21.
"I was trying hard not to over-drive the car," said Wolfe in victory lane, "It’s easy to do here.Once Fred got by me, I had to push harder and harder and I found a little bit of something. Fred got held up by some lapped cars, and that let me get by him. Once I was out there, I figured it would be pretty hard for him to get back by me again, but you can never count him out, he’s always there until the end. It was a good win for us tonight."
From there, it was all Wolfe, who crossed 2.58 seconds in front of the 153-time winner.
"All the drivers appreciate all the effort that goes into weekly racing here," added Wolfe, "It’s always known for its close racing, and it definitely teaches you how to race with guys close. You just have to be patient at the right time and make the right moves at the right times."
It was Wolfe’s third win of the year and third career win in the Pigeon Hills.
Coming on strong at the end to finish third was ninth-starting Alan Krimes, with Haas and Greg Hodnett completing the top five. Sixth through tenth were Doug Esh, Brian Leppo, Lance Dewease, Tim Shaffer (driving a Joe Darrah team car to Cody Darrah), and Cris Eash.
Sprint heats were won by Esh, Hodnett, Eash and Rahmer, while Krimes won the B-Main.
Fast time in time trials over the 33-car "410" sprint field was set by Wolfe with a one-lap time of 13.439-seconds (100.454 MPH).

Lucas Wins Williams Grove 410s
Posted 09.03.07
MECHANICSBURG, PA, 9/02/07 - Lucas Wolfe, Gregg Foster and John Westbrook won feature events in the sprint car, super sportsman and limited (358 c.i,) sprint divisions respectively Sunday night at Williams Grove Speedway.
Michael Carber took the lead at the start of the 25-lap event while Wolfe, who started 10th, was charging through traffic.
Wolfe was fourth by lap three, third on lap six and took the runnerup spot from Rick Eichelberger the next time around.
Carber and Wolfe, who have been racing together since their quarter midget days when Wolfe was six and Carber was five, ran nose-to-tail until lap 20. Carber was slowed by a lapped car entering turn three when Wolfe ducked to the inside and took the lead.
He began to get away from the field until a red flag on lap 24.
On the restart Wolfe pulled way to become the 18th different driver to win a feature in the 410 division at the Grove this season.
Lance Dewease, who started 8th, finished second. Greg Hodnett came from 12th to third. Doug Esh and Fred Rahmer completed the top five followed by Mark Smith, Eichelberger, Clark Simonton, Jr., Craig Keel and Chad Layton, who earned the Ziegler Kitchens Hard Charger award after starting 24th.
Sprint car heats were won by Rick Lafferty, Dewease and Michael Carber. The consolation was claimed by Mike Erdley.
There were 30 sprint cars in competition on Sunday night.

Wolfe Wins Summer Sizzler at Eldora
Posted 07.10.07
ROSSBURG, OH, 7/10/07 - If you can consider Lucas Wolfe an outsider, the score on the Old Spice Summer Sizzler has been reduced to 2 -1 in favor of the National Racing Alliance (NRA) Sprint Invaders following Wednesday's spectacular run. Wolfe earned $2,000 for his seven minute run, equating to $285 per minute. Prior to Wednesday, the NRA regulars had dominated the event, with Darren Long and Tim Allison the previous winners.
Continuing Wednesday's trend of outsiders taking home the cash, NASCAR's Kenny Schrader dominated the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) Modified finale.
The Old Spice Summer Sizzler concept pits NASCAR stars Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney against the NRA faithful in a full points meet. Whle the trio has struggled somewhat over the years to create strong showings, Wednesday's competition allowed them to showcase their talents in a 'return to their roots'. All three have extensive open wheel history behind them.
Dale Blaney, Dave's younger brother, shot into the early lead of the 25-lap chase and appeared enroute to a duplication of an earlier victory this season, on Eldora's one-half mile clay oval. As he sped to the early lead, Darren Long, Dave Blaney and Kahne were in hot pursuit.
With all eyes focused on that front running foursome, Wolfe was creating his own fireworks.
After starting in 8th spot, he slipped back a few notches before stepping up his program and finding a fast lane along the bottom groove.
Equally quick was Dustin Dagget, as he moved into the top five by lap four. He picked off Dave Blaney on lap 8 for third, then disposed of Long on lap 10 to move into contention for the lead. But, at the same his momentum kicked in, so did Wolfe's.
On lap 11, Wolfe drop kicked Dave Blaney to fifth, two laps later did the same to Long and then reeled in Dagget. It took him but two laps to move Dagget back to third, and with lapped traffic ahead, Wolfe pulled up alongside Dale Blaney for a classic three lap chase that had the crowd in a frenzy.
With seven laps to go, Wolfe pulled into the lead he was to hold to the finish, despite a valiant last lap effort by Dale Blaney. Wolfe's margin of victory was less than two car lengths.
Finishing behind them were Greg Wilson in another strong run, followed by Kahne and Daggett.
Dave Blaney finished 8th and Stewart advanced from 20th to finish 12th.

SELINSGROVE, PA – Sean Michael of Allentown held off Stevie Smith of
New Oxford for the exciting win in Sunday night’s PA Speedweek finale for 410 sprint carsat Selinsgrove Speedway.
Michael, driving Jim Nace’s No. 6, collected $5,000 for his first 410
sprint carvictory at the track. Michael was a previous URC sprint car winner at Selinsgrove.
Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg clinched his first career Cindy Rowe Auto

Jeff Shepard of Upperco, Md., clocked in the fast time for the evening
with a time of 17.023 (112 mph average speed).
Race number seven in the PA Speedweek series saw polesitter Jeff
Shepard bring the field to the green. Fourth-place starter Sean Michael powered into the lead as the field exited the second turn. The field began to string out with Michael leading Shepard, fifth-place starter Stevie Smith, third-place starter Doug Esh, and sixth-place starter Lucas Wolfe competing in the top five.
The race’s first caution flag unfurled on lap five for Steve
Clabaugh’s racer in turn two. On the restart, 10th-place starter Fred Rahmer powered his way in to sixth after restarting in the eighth position. For the next few laps, Esh and Wolfe battled
for fourth as Michael began to separate himself from the rest of the
field. After starting 23rd, Brian Montieth advanced to 11th by lap 10 before he stoppedhis machine in turn four, ending his evening.
Shepard challenged Michael for the lead on the lap 12 restart but could not complete the pass. At the halfway point, Michael stretched his lead over Shepard, Smith, Wolfe, and Esh, as series point leader Greg Hodnett lurked in eighth. Michael and Shepard began to pick their way through lapped traffic as Hodnett made the pass for seventh on the 22nd circuit.
On the 23rd circuit, Smith passed Shepard for the second position. A
caution on lap 26 stopped the action as Chad Layton stopped in turn four in front of the leaders. The restart saw Michael hold the field at bay, while Smith, Shepard, Esh and Wolfe competed in the top five.
The race’s final caution flag unfurled on lap 29 when Mike Walter and
Matt Heimbach collided in turn four. The field was stopped while under caution to refuel for the final lap. Michael went on to win the race over Smith, while Wolfe powered into third and clinched the PA Speedweek title. Esh and Shepard completed the top five.

Wolfe Wins for Second Straight Week in Weldon Sterner Memorial
Posted 06.03.07
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 6/2/07 - Mechanicsburg’s Lucas Wolfe has served notice that he is a force to be reckened with in Central Pennsylvania.
After winning his first career Lincoln Speedway 410 sprint feature last week in Keystone Cup action, Wolfe rolled to his second straight Lincoln win in the 30-lap 4th Annual Weldon Sterner Memorial. Counting last week’s $5,500 winner’s check and the $5,000-to-win the Sterner Memorial, Wolfe has won $10,500 and the respect of the Pennsylvania Posse.
Wolfe out-raced polesitter Stevie Smith into the first and second turns from his outside front row starting position and held the former New Oxford racer at bay the entire 30-lap distance to pick up the win. Ironically, Wolfe’s final margin of victory for the Sterner Memorial was 69-hundredths of-a-second.
Wolfe and Smith ran one-two the entire way, with Fred Rahmer coming from seventh starting spot to grab third from fifth-starting Lance Dewease on the 28th lap. Dewease settled for fourth, with ninth-starting Greg Hodnett completing the top five. Hodnett missed the four-car inversion and started ninth after dropping out of his heat race.
Rounding out the top ten were T.J. Stutts, Brian Montieth, Jim Siegel (carrying the Sterner Cement #69 colors), hard charger Niki Young (who started 18th), and Jeff Busby. Young’s hard-charger award was worth $200 extra from Pat Sterner and Don Althoff.
The outset of the Sterner Memorial saw a five-car crash in turn two which resulted in a spectacular flip by Darren Eash. Eash was uninjured, but Cody Darrah suffered an arm injury in a four-car pileup on the inside of turn two. He was taken to York Hospital for treatment.
Heats for the 410 sprinters were won by Wolfe, Cris Eash, Chad Layton and Young, with Hodnett winning the B-Main. Doug Esh set fast time in time trials over the 39-car field with a one-lap time of 13.343-seconds (101.177 MPH).

Wolfe Scores First Career Lincoln Win in Keystone Cup "A" Main
Posted 05.27.07
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 5/26/07 - Night number four of the Inaugural Keystone Cup Series belonged to Lucas Wolfe.
The Mechanicsburg youngster showed a packed house that he’s becoming a veteran in scoring his first career Lincoln win and claiming the $5,000 event plus the $500 Kline’s Services sponsorship night bonus.
Wolfe, who started on the pole after Steve Buckwalter and Steve Clabaugh failed to qualify in their respective heats and make the six-car inversion, led the first two laps and kept his cool when third-starting Doug Esh rode the cushion to take the race lead in turns three and four of lap three.
Believing the top would go away, Wolfe patiently followed the Kinard Trucking #30, kept hitting his marks, and reclaimed the lead for good on the backstretch of lap 16.
"Racing with these guys...you sure gain a lot of experience," said Wolfe upon exiting the Allebach #5W, "I’m fortunate enough to run a lot of races. That’s the only way you’re going to get better at it. I kept hitting my line every lap. Early...when he got me...I was pushing a little hard and he was able to get away. Once I slowed myself down, I was able to get better."
Once he got the lead, Wolfe pulled away to a 1.57-second lead before the third and final caution of the race came when Brian Montieth dropped off the pace with a flat right rear on lap 20.
Though fifth-starting Lance Dewease caught Esh for second on lap 18 and pulled onto his rear bumper for the restart, it was all Wolfe after that. His lead was nearly two seconds on the next-to-last lap before he backed off to keep from dealing with a lapped car on the final circuit. His final margin of victory over the Vogele/Pete’s Bridge Street Motors/Hank’s Performance Products #25 was .94 seconds.
Esh settled for third, with Greg Hodnett fourth and points leader Fred Rahmer fifth. Completing the top ten were Keith Kauffman, Cory Haas, Niki Young, Mark Smith, and Brian Leppo.
Heats for the sprinters were won by Hodnett, Rahmer, Young and Todd Shaffer, with Steve Buckwalter winning the B-Main. Brian Leppo set fast time in time trials over the 41-car field with a one-lap time of 13.155-seconds (102.623 MPH).
Josh Wells won a special 5-lap $1,000 "winner take all" non-qualifiers dash.

Lucas Wolfe Wires Field to Win Big Diamond Raceway Keystone Cup Event
Posted 05.26.07
By Gary Lileck
Forestville, PA – May 24, 2007 The Central PA 410 Sprint cars made their first Big Diamond Raceway appearance in nearly two years on Thursday evening. Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg led all 30-laps of the main event en route to a $5000 victory as part of NAPA Auto Parts of Schuylkill County Night and race number two of the Dupont/Tyvek Keystone Cup Series.
Wolfe, a second generation open wheel racer, spent some time traveling across the country last season on the 410 Sprint-car circuit. In 2007, Wolfe is concentrating on PA racing and this victory marks his first of the season behind the wheel of the Allebach Racing 5w.
Joe Hendricks of Auburn PA executed some early race maneuvers and grabbed his first win of the season. Hendricks, in his third year of competition, won the 15-lap Roadrunner main event. It was his second career win at the track.
Clean and green racing headlined the evening, as the sprint car feature only contained a pair of stoppages. The first and only caution flag period took place with four laps complete. New York’s Jonathan Erikson spun in turn four. A red flag incident with 22 on the board for a third running Keith Kauffman and the lapped machine of Neil Petock was the only other incident. Neither driver was injured in the accident.
Wolfe started outside pole for the start of the 30-lap feature contest. He wasted no time in grabbing the opening lead. Former Big Diamond Small Block Modified racer Fred Rahmer started fourth in the CJB Motorsports #51. Rahmer stormed into the runner-up position on lap six. Wolfe entered lapped traffic by the tenth tour and Rahmer traced the race leader. At times, Rahmer was able to gain some ground on Wolfe as laps quickly clicked by.
The red flag period with eight laps remaining may have been the decisive factor for Wolfe. On the restart, Wolfe immediately placed some distance between himself and Rahmer. Wolfe led the remaining laps, while Rahmer closed a bit on the final circuit. It was Wolfe’s first ever win at the three-eighth’s mile clay oval of Big Diamond Raceway.
Rahmer(Salfordville), the ’82, ’83, and ’85 SBM track champ, held on for a runner-up finish worth $2000. Todd Shaffer (Millerstown) started third and ended up in the position when the checkers fell. Mark Smith (Selinsgrove) ran within the top five during most of the contest and finished fourth. Stevie Smith (New Oxford) started fifteenth. Smith moved into the top five on lap 22 and ended up fifth.
Twenty-five sprinters competed in time trials with Mike Erdley (Herndon) setting quick time of 15.536. Three qualifying heat races were held, each with a distance of 10-laps. Winners were: Craig Keel (Weedsport NY), Kevin Nouse (Mechanicsburg), and Stevie Smith (New Oxford).

Kinser wins at New Egypt, Lucas Finishes 4th
Posted 05.21.07
By Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director
Steve Kinser has won at a lot of tracks from coast-to-coast as well as Australia during his career, but one track he had never visited victory lane at was New Egypt Speedway in New Jersey. That all changed on Sunday night as he inched out Jason Sides to earn his fourth A-Feature victory of the season and first at D-shaped half-mile. The victory was the 537th of his career.
Kinser led Sides on the final lap, with Sides inching ahead on the back straightaway heading into the third turn. Kinser charged back to the lead exiting turn three, and the pair came off the final corner side-by-side to the checkered flag, and it was Kinser claiming the $10,000 top prize by 0.028 second.
The pair had a slight scare at the outset of the race, after they made contact on the first of two aborted starts. Kinser was running second on the opening start, but that was negated after the red flag, leading to a complete restart. A caution flag flew for rookie Kerry Madsen, after Sides jumped to the lead, setting up a third restart, which again saw Sides charge into turn one as the leader. After the first red flag and subsequent caution, the race ran green-to-checkers on the final restart. After seeing Sides jump to the initial lead and begin to pull away, Kinser patiently reeled him in, and on the 19th lap made the pass for the lead using the low side of the track exiting the first and second turn.
For most of the race, Kinser kept his car glued to the bottom of the track. Whether he was in traffic or open race track, he had one of the fastest cars over the course of the 30-lap event. On a couple of occasions he made up ground on Sides when the pair got into traffic.
A lengthy rain delay three-quarters of the way through time trials, forced officials to implement one lap of qualifying to help accelerate the rest of the program. By way of World of Outlaws rules, all the times that were recorded prior to the rain were erases and all the cars had to take time again. The track picked up quite a bit of speed from the aborted qualifying effort and Kinser timed in seventh quick. He followed that up with a second place finish in the third heat to earn a spot in the Crane Cams Dash, where he started on the pole and led start-to-finish.
Sides led the first 18 laps of the event, as he earned a season-best finish of second. After climbing from his car, the native of Bartlett, Tennessee snapped his fingers knowing just how close he was to earning his second career World of Outlaws A-Feature win. The runner-up finish was his ninth Top-10 of the season.
After Kinser took the lead on the 19th lap, Sides shadowed him, hoping to get one more shot at the 20-time champion. Sides inched ahead on the back straightaway on the final lap. The native of Bartlett, Tennessee ran the only sub 15-second lap during the A-Feature on the fourth lap of the event.
Tim Kaeding made a strong charge at the end to finish third as he continues to substitute for Brooke Tatnell. The native of San Jose lined up fifth and moved up a spot on the 11th lap as he got around Joey Saldana. He then had an epic battle with Lucas Wolfe as the pair traded the fourth third position a couple of times. When the checkered flag flew, the third generation driver had one of the fastest cars on the track.
Lucas Wolfe took the initial lead of the race before the red flag flew on the opening circuit leading to a complete restart. After setting fast time last week at Williams Grove Speedway in a World of Outlaws event, the young driver was fast again on Sunday night at New Egypt. He turned the fourth fastest lap in time trials and was second in the fourth heat to earn a spot in the Crane Cams Dash.
“I was able to get a pretty good start the first time, and unfortunately it got called back,” said Wolfe, driver of the Allebach Racing Maxim. “I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to race with a lot of good guys out here that most people never get. I am definitely glad to be able to travel around when the Outlaws come to town. It makes you all that much better. Racing with the best at different race tracks is the only way you will ever become the best.”
Craig Dollansky picked up his eight Top-Five finish of the season as he came home fifth in the Karavan Trailers Maxim. He lined up eighth for the A-Feature turning the ninth quickest lap in time trials, and winning the first heat to earn a spot in the Crane Cams Dash. The native of Elk River, Minnesota gained a couple of spots on the opening lap, and as the laps wound down worked his way into fifth.
The rest of the Top-10 was: Jason Solwold in sixth in the City Wide Insulation Maxim, Joey Saldana in seventh in the Open Joist Mopar-powered JEI, Jac Haudenschild who started 19th earned the KSE Race Products Hard Charger Award in the Wright One Construction Maxim after finishing eighth. Paul McMahan finished ninth in the Bass Pro Shops Eagle, with Billy Pauch finishing 10th in the Don Ott Racing Engines J&J.
The World of Outlaws return to Pennsylvania on Wednesday, May 23 for Thunder on the Hill at Grandview Speedway.

Lucas Wolfe and Doug Esh split the twin 20 lap features for sprint cars Sunday night at Williams Grove Speedway. Wolfe started sixth in the first feature and wasted no time going to the front as he took the lead from Kyle Pruitt with an outside move exiting turn four on the first lap. While Wolfe set the pace, Todd Shaffer, who started fifth, was closing fast. Shaffer took second from Alan Krimes on lap 19 and was within a car length of Wolfe at the finish. It was the first victory of the season for the 19-year old Mechanicsburg resident who became the speedway's 16th different winner of the year in the 410 c.i. division.
Chris Meleason turned in his best effort of the season with a fourth place finish. Brian Montieth, Lance Dewease, Niki Young, Chad Layton, Don Kreitz, Jr. and Mike Erdley completed the top ten. Fred Rahmer suffered mechanical problems and was credited with a 25th-place finish, which caused him to surrender the lead in the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point standings to Dewease.
Montieth set the pace in the second feature while Esh, who started 12th, was charging through traffic. Following a spirited duel with Montieth, Esh took the lead with an inside move through three and four on lap 17, then rolled to his fifth victory of the season at Williams Grove to lead all drivers in that category. Layton took second from Montieth on the last lap. Rahmer passed 21 cars to finish fourth. Dewease, Erdley, Wolfe, Greg Hodnett, Brian Leppo, and Young completed the top ten. Helm Hires Lucas to Drive Selma Shell 11H With NST
Posted 11.15.05
Fresno, CA – David Helm owner of the Selma Shell Racing #11h has named Lucas Wolfe as their driver for the upcoming 2006 race season. The 19-year-old phenom from Mechanicsburg, PA will now join crew chief Sonny Kratzer and crewmember Warren Beard. Selma Shell Racing is based in Fresno, CA with an alternate shop in Indianapolis, IN.
"I am really exited to have this opportunity to race with the best drivers in the world, and work with one of the best teams in the series,” said Wolfe, who has raced the past three seasons in Central Pennsylvania, one of the biggest hotbeds for 410 sprint car racing in the country.
“With Dave and Sonny wanting to take a chance on such a young person to compete in a tough series, with a vigorous schedule, it is such a great honor and shows they have a lot of respect and confidence in me as a person and a driver. This is a tremendous opportunity they have given me and I won’t let them down.”
“I really want to thank Jim and Laura Allebach for putting me in their Allebach Racing #5w for the last five years. If it was not for them, I would not even be able to compete next season. I owe Jim, Laura, and my entire family a debt of gratitude”.
Wolfe began his racing career at age five in the quarter midget ranks. He amassed over 100 victories and was the 2000 Champion in the Gasoline Alley Nationals at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He also set several fast times at Lincoln Speedway and one at Williams Grove during a World of Outlaws visit.

“This is going to be a great and exciting year for the Selma Shell 11h,” said David Helm, owner of the Selma Shell Race Team. “I was really impressed by Lucas when we were in Pennsylvania, and he set fast time and had an impressive finish against the World of Outlaws. When we were considering a new driver I knew Lucas would be a perfect match for our team”.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Third-year sprint car driver Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg wired the field for his victory in the 23rd Salem RV Center National Open for 410 Sprint Cars at Selinsgrove Speedway Saturday night.
For Wolfe, at the wheel of the E&G Classics No. 5W, the $7,500 win was his third of the 2005 season in central Pennsylvania.
Mark Smith of Carlisle was the night's fast qualifier with a lap time of 16.593. Dan Jensen won his second pro stock feature of the season in the 15-lap main event.
Polesitter Lucas Wolfe powered into the lead at the start of the sprint car feature. Wolfe was chased by second-place starter Lance Dewease and fourth-place starter Rick Lafferty. On the fifth circuit, while racing fourth, third-place starter Stevie Smith withdrew from the race with engine failure.
Sixth-place starter Mark Smith took over the third position only to enter the pit area to change a flat tire while pacing under caution on the 10th circuit. When the race resumed, Dewease and eighth-place starter Greg Hodnett set their sites on Wolfe.
On the 16th lap, Dewease pulled off the race track with mechanical problems, allowing Hodnett to take over second. On the 18th circuit, 10th-place starter and five-time Open winner Fred Rahmer stormed into third.
The race was stopped on lap 26 for refueling. When the race resumed, Wolfe stretched his lead over Hodnett and Rahmer, who dueled for runner up laurels. Wolfe's margin of victory was 1.66 seconds. Keith Kauffman and Chad Layton completed the top five.

Rahmer and Dewease Win But Wolfe Thrills in Third Race
Posted 09.06.04
Mechanicsburg, PA - Three different drivers scored wins in Triple 20 lap feature events for sprint cars Sunday night at Williams Grove Speedway. Taking wins in the 22nd Annual Jack Gunn Memorial were Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease and Lucas Wolfe and it was Wolfe’s victory in the final main that overshadowed all the rest.
It was17-year old Wolfe of Mechanicsburg who displayed veteran skill to win the $5,000 event, his second triumph of the year at the oval and only second ever in his career anywhere. Wolfe led off of the pole to the finish but it wasn’t nearly as easy from the front row for Wolfe to win as it was for earlier winners Rahmer and Dewease. They were never challenged but indeed Wolfe had all he could handle.
Fourth starter Mark Smith of Newville moved into second on the eighth circuit and gradually reeled in Wolfe and for the final four loops he and the leader battled it out.
The final move came in the second corner of the last lap. Wolfe entered off of his lane, forced onto the bottom due to traffic directly in front of him. The winner described it best in victory lane.
“The only place I thought he (Smith) had a chance was in three and four and then the lapped car got in my way in the first turn. Since I was out front leading I had the whole track to myself so I figured I’d just use it all up, that’s what it’s there for,” Wolfe said.
Wolfe used a huge slider in the turns to clear the lapped car, scrubbing speed and allowing Smith to draw along side for the win. But Wolfe turned the car and the pair made contact coming of the second corner as Wolfe turned practically broadside in fron of Smith to then straighten his car in front of Smith and preserve the prestigious win.
“Any time I can beat Mark Smith and Fred Rahmer I’m damn proud to do it,” Wolfe said.
Rahmer of Salfordville was third followed by Keith Kauffman, Mifflintown; and Lance Dewease, Fayetteville.
Sixth through tenth went to Cris Eash, Hanover; Todd Shaffer, Millerstown; Doug Esh, Lancaster; Don Kreitz Jr, Sinking Spring and Todd Hestor, Middleburg.
Rahmer started second in the first feature and led the entire distance of the non-stop affair leading first over Smith and from lap three to the end over Greg Hodnett. From lap six to the finish the pair played high-speed cat and mouse in and out of traffic with Rahmer prevailing to the checkered flag only to spin his car on the cool down lap while trying to avoid a tangle in the third corner.
The balance of the top ten in the first event was Smith, Kreitz Jr., Eash, Wolfe, Kauffman, Dewease, Hestor and Esh. The win was Rahmer’s 61st at the speedway worth $2,500.
Rahmer drew an eight for inversion in the second main event and Dewease started on the pole to wire the field for his win as well as the race on the track played out for second.
Sixth starter Smith and second starter Kauffman exchanged the spot three times with Smith finally coming out on top at the finish over Kauffman, Hodnett, Wolfe, Rahmer, Shaffer, Eash, Kreitz and Hestor. It was the 59th career win for Dewease at the track also worth $2,500.
“We haven’t been real good all year,” said Dewease of his season. “In the first feature we were pretty decent early then in the second race starting spot meant a lot.”
Twin B Mains for the 32-car field went to Ron Kramer and Chad Layton with the top dozen time trial efforts locked into the features. Todd Hestor set quick time with a fast lap of 16.778 seconds.
